DAY 2: My Visit to MYSORE

I got up early at 5:30. After pooja at 8:15am we (Myself, Radika, Uncle's family and Suman(another cousin of Radika) were on our way again headed to our destination Mysore in Tata SUMO.After a long 2.5 hour drive we reached the outskirts of Mysore.

Melukote -

This place is located interior to the Bangalore - Mysore main road in the right side while going towards Mysore. We visited Sri Yoganarasimha Swamy temple which is located at the top of the hill.

Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple -

It is located at the centre of Melukote. Before visiting Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple, people can visit the Pancha Kalyani pond. Behind this temple, the sisters’ ponds (elder and younger sisters, Akka-Thangi kola) are located.

Raya Gopura

The place where many films, especially Mani Ratnam’s have some scenes of this place (Barso Re Megha Megha, Movie : GURU).. An awesome place located at almost 3000 ft above sea level is located at almost end of the town and is situated close to Akka-Thangi kola. It is said that a Vijayanagara king took it as a challenge to complete the construction of the temple overnight; but he failed in doing so.

Srirangapatnam (13 kms from Mysore) -

The spot where Tipu Sultan was found dead after being killed in war during the siege of SrirangapatnamHere we visited Ranganathaswamy temple, which has the deity - Sri Ranganathar (Vishnu) in a sleeping posture.
I and JayaSree went on a horse ride for one round trip (only 3 mins) :’)

Brindavan Gardens -

In the evening around 7:30 we reached to the Brindavan Gardens in KRS Dam. Oh God! It seemed as if hundreds of people from Bangalore, Mysore and more had descended into the place. I couldnt imagine such a crowd . I guesss it was due to the Dasara. We watched the musical fountain – a short 15 min light and water show. The fountains were choreographed to latest hits and ended with a patriotic song

I slept like a log at night and woke up directly at 3.30 am the next day morning . I was woken up by the sound of Vani Shree alarm.

Stay Tune
